Author Guidelines
Author Guidelines
The Quadra Journal of Health Information Management (QJHIM) invites authors to submit original manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of health data science. To ensure a smooth review process, please adhere strictly to the following guidelines.
1. General Submission Requirements

Language: Manuscripts may be written in English or Indonesian.

File Format: Submissions must be in Microsoft Word (.doc / .docx) or Rich Text Format (.rtf).

Page Layout: A4 size paper, typed in a single-column format.
-
Typography: Use Cambria font throughout the document.
-
Word Count: The main text must be a minimum of 2,000 words. The Introduction section should ideally be around 1,000 words.
2. Manuscript Structure
Title
-
Must be informative, concise, and describe the core content (recommended 12–15 words).

Avoid using formulas or abbreviations in the title.
Author Information
-
Name: Full name(s) without academic degrees or professional titles.
-
Affiliation: Complete name of the institution, address, postal code, and country.
-
Correspondence: For group submissions, clearly indicate the corresponding author with an email address and telephone number.
Abstract & Keywords
-
Abstract: A single paragraph of 150–300 words written in both English and Indonesian. It must be structured to include: Background, Objectives, Methodology, Results, Conclusion, and the study’s contribution (e.g., impact on interoperability, coding integrity, or governance).

Keywords: 3–5 words or phrases, arranged alphabetically, using specific technical terms where relevant.
Introduction

Explain the background, the specific problem, and the importance of the research.

Include a brief, focused literature review of previous findings.
-
Conclude with a clear statement of the research purposes.
Literature Review (Optional)
-
Authors may include this sub-chapter if deep theoretical grounding is required (e.g., discussing specific frameworks like HL7 FHIR, SNOMED CT, or data privacy ethics).
Research Method

Provide enough detail so the work can be replicated.

Include technical specifications of materials/equipment and clear data analysis methods.
-
HIM-Specific Notes: * State ethical approval and data protection measures if using patient/clinical data.
-
Define versions and mapping rules if using standards like ICD-11, LOINC, or SNOMED CT.

Results and Discussion
-
Present findings clearly using tables or figures (do not present raw data).
-
Interpretation: Explain why the results occurred and what they mean scientifically.
-
Comparison: Compare your results with previous studies—highlighting similarities or differences.
Conclusion

Provide a clear answer to the research questions in a flowing paragraph format.
-
Avoid statistical jargon in this section; focus on the substantive meaning of the findings.
3. Formatting & Tables/Figures

Headings: "Results and Discussion" must be capitalized, bolded, and spaced 1 line apart.
-
Visuals: Tables and figures should be simplified, readable, and numbered sequentially (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1).
-
Citations: Refer to visuals by their number (e.g., "as seen in Table 1") rather than their location (e.g., "in the table below").
4. References & Citations

Software: Authors must use a citation manager such as Mendeley or Zotero.
-
Style: Follow the APA (American Psychological Association) reference style.

In-text Citations:
-
Two authors: List both names (e.g., Smith & Jones, 2024).
-
Three or more authors: List the first author followed by et al. (e.g., Smith et al., 2024).
